In this paper I try to draw an outline for an understanding of online jamming as cultural performance. Based on the work of the German theatre-theorist Erika Fischer-Lichte and Gil Weinberg, professor of musical technology I tried to create a topology of Ninjam as online music network. The main idea is that this topology can be interpreted as a virtual space were meaning is negotiated and created at the same time, thereby remediating Fischer-Lichte's notion of the 'performative Raum'. Online jamming creates its own virtual space, with its own charateristics that influence the musical performance.

This paper was written for the master course: 'Coding Culture: Digital Music Networks', University Utrecht. Graded:: [9/10]
